From vine to visit
Connect grape varieties, soils and vineyard decisions with cellar methods, historical context and the experience of visiting a producer. Each subject helps explain the next.
ANDALUSIA, THROUGH THE WINEAN INDEPENDENT GUIDE
ANDALUSIA WINE ACADEMY
An independent guide to the whole of Andalusia, brought to life through welcoming private wine tastings in Mijas. We connect places, people and wine to help you discover more of what you enjoy.
OUR APPROACH
The academy is built around a simple connection: exploring a place helps you understand its wines, and tasting those wines brings the place closer. Our regional guides give you context; our private sessions turn that context into something you can see, taste and discuss.
Ilja’s approach is relaxed and practical. Beginners can discover their preferences and useful food pairings, while more experienced wine lovers can explore the connections between grape, soil, cellar and heritage. The aim is greater understanding, confidence and enjoyment around the table.
THE REASON WE STARTED
This guide grew from a simple frustration: finding a clear, connected introduction to wine across the whole of Andalusia. Useful information is spread across individual winery websites, regional wine bodies, tourism pages and specialist sources. Understanding how it all fits together often means doing the research yourself.
Our aim is to make that journey easier. We bring wineries, wine tourism, viticulture and heritage into one independent guide, connecting the grape and the vineyard with the cellar, the people and the places you can visit.
That means looking across all eight provinces and making room for the full diversity of Andalusian wine: Sherry and Málaga’s sweet wines alongside dry whites, reds, rosés, local grape varieties and the growers shaping the region’s next chapter.
Whether you are planning a visit, deepening your knowledge or simply choosing your next bottle, this is a place to start with curiosity and follow it further. Our ambition is to become a trusted companion to Andalusian wine, from the first question to the next discovery.
Discover Andalusia through its wines: its ancient roots, diverse landscapes and the people shaping its next chapter.
HOW WE BUILD THE GUIDE
Trust grows through the details. The guide makes its sources, scope and open questions visible.
Connect grape varieties, soils and vineyard decisions with cellar methods, historical context and the experience of visiting a producer. Each subject helps explain the next.
Formal wine education, ongoing learning, specialist books, tasting and visits across Andalusia shape our approach. Producer information, regulatory councils and historical research add detail, with sources and dates on individual profiles.
Visitor information and language evidence help you take the next step. Wine tourism remains personal: confirm the appointment and the experience directly with the producer.
This is a growing guide, not an exhaustive census or a ranking of Andalusian wineries. Inclusion does not imply a commercial partnership. Regional descriptions provide context; estate-specific claims need estate-specific evidence. Read our research approach and sources.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE GUIDE
Bodega Sierra de Mijas, our private home tasting room in La Sierrezuela, Mijas, gives these ideas a place at the table. Four-bottle flights, tactile soil samples and regional tapas turn reading into observation, discussion and discovery.
Personal tastings, guided masterclasses and private gatherings of up to 20 guests each offer a different way into the region. We shape the depth, pace, venue and service around your group, with the same curiosity at the heart of every experience.
